William Shakespeare has fascinated both actors and audiences alike for over four hundred years.  From the Globe Theatre to modern stage, his plays have been interpreted and performed in a multitude of ways.  With the invention of motion pictures, a greater license for adaptation and innovation was taken.  Through the media of film, actors are able to fully engage one another as characters in the story rather than fellow actors on a stage.  The audience was removed from the picture completely.  These pages take a look at Shakespeare and his influence on motion pictures in the last twenty-five years.
