Mel Gibson's Hamlet
Mel Gibson also starred in a version of Hamlet, albeit a
much shorter version than Branagh's.
This version was set in medieval times and followed the "traditional"
interpretations rather closely. It also
cut out a great deal of the script, streamlining it into a mere two hours. Hamlet was directed by Franco Zeffirelli, and starred Mel Gibson, Glenn
Close, Ian Holm, and Helena Bonham-Carter.
